Barry Hughes, DC, is an experienced and compassionate chiropractor in Pearland, Texas. He joined Premier Chiropractic in 2018 after working in private practice for more than 35 years. Dr. Hughes brings extensive clinical experience and a history of service to patients in Pearland, where he provides chiropractic care and rehabilitation services.
Dr. Hughes earned his doctorate of chiropractic at Texas Chiropractic College in Pasadena, Texas, in 1983. Upon graduation, Dr. Hughes completed the requirements for chiropractic licensure in Oklahoma, Colorado, and Texas, and practiced in Colorado for two years before returning home to Texas.
Dr. Hughes then began his private practice in Brazoria, Texas, where he served the community for 30 years. Throughout his career, Dr. Hughes published numerous clinical papers and journal articles in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics — the premier research journal for chiropractic. In 1990, he became one of the first chiropractors in Texas to earn hospital privileges. Then in 1991, he was the first chiropractor to complete training in manipulation under anesthesia through Texas Chiropractic College.
As a leader in his field, Dr. Hughes was a founding member of the integrative medicine program through the American Chiropractic Association. He went on to earn his certificate in acupuncture in 2008. He has been named a “Who’s Who” in chiropractic numerous times and was awarded a position on America’s Top 100 Chiropractors list for three years.
Dr. Hughes retired in 2012 but found that he missed taking care of people and interacting with patients. He joined Premier Chiropractic in 2018 to continue providing care to patients in the Pearland area. In his free time, Dr. Hughes is a prolific writer and has completed 22 screenplays and seven novels.
